Community Resources
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is an evidenced-based public education program available to non-mental health professionals, that teaches how to recognize the symptoms of mental health problems, how to offer and provide initial help, and how to guide the individual to professional help, if appropriate. MHFA has been found to build mental health literacy, to decrease stigmatizing attitudes surrounding mental illness and substance abuse, to increase confidence of individuals to offer help, and to empower individuals to seek help earlier thus yielding a greater chance for recovery.
WellStone’s community room is open for community use at our Huntsville campus. It offers a welcoming space for workshops, support groups, and other gatherings.
