Pediatric Unit

When Your Child is in Crisis…

The WellStone Emergency Services (WES) Pediatric Unit provides 24/7 crisis care for youth (ages 8-18) experiencing mental health emergencies, guiding them toward stabilization and long-term healing.

The pediatric unit accepts walk-ins, EMS transfers, and Mobile Crisis Team (MCT) transport.  No assessment or appointment is needed.

Calling ahead is recommended to ensure bed availability.

The WES Pediatric Unit is Madison County’s first extended psychiatric care option for youth and the first of its kind in the state. At the Pediatric Unit, our teams provide the immediate mental health care kids need in the warm, compassionate setting they deserve.

The Nova Center for Youth & Family provides a full range of outpatient services, school-based therapy, prevention programs, and family counseling for children and teens. By connecting to the Nova Center, youth can transition from crisis care into ongoing support that helps them build resilience and thrive.

No one is turned away due to inability to pay. We accept most forms of insurance, including Medicaid, Tricare, and select Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama plans.
