Covenant Presbyterian Church at 301 Drake Avenue in Huntsville, is hosting a seminar on Saturday August 8, 2015 from 9 am to 12 pm entitled “Help & Hope for Dementia Caregivers”. The seminar will provide practical advice for caregivers of people with dementia and will dispel the sense of hopelessness that families may experience in the caregiving process. The presenters are the co-authors of the book “A Pocket Guide for the Alzheimer’s Caregiver”, a work described by the former President of the American Academy of Neurology as “providing steps to maximize the enjoyment of life for the person with Alzheimer’s disease”. The seminar will be led by Daniel C. Potts, MD and his wife Ellen Woodward Potts. Daniel C. Potts, MD, FAAN, is a noted neurologist, author, educator, and champion of those with Alzheimer’s disease and their caregivers. He was the 2008 American Academy of Neurology Advocate of the Year and was inspired to provide hope and support to others by his father’s journey through Alzheimer’s and his mother’s dedication to caregiving. Ellen Woodward Potts, MBA, has over 20 years experience in healthcare management and teaches “Leadership Development Through Service” at the University of Alabama and is a regular contributor on Alzheimer’s disease at www.mariashriver.com.
