Substance abuse counseling is available for adolescents 18 years of age or younger at the Nova Center for Youth & Family.
Prevention Services are available to help keep young people safe and healthy while preventing and/or delaying the initiation of alcohol, tobacco and drug use. Prevention services work primarily with high risk youth in community group settings and teach a wide variety of life skills necessary to build effective coping strategies and resiliency. Nova Center prevention specialists also work with community leaders to shape public policy and influence a culture that targets early drug use among young people.
Treatment Services are available at Nova Center offices in Huntsville and Cullman. Outpatient counseling for substance abuse conditions is available on an individual basis and intensive outpatient counseling is available in a group setting during the evening hours. These interventions typically last several weeks and may include multiple sessions per week until the young person is ready to step-down to a less intensive level of care. Referrals are accepted from a wide variety of community partners, including the juvenile justice system.
